I stopped and biked around the Tall Pines section of this part-open MetroPark in Groveport today looking for late migrants. Migrant flocks were hard to find here, but 1s and 2s were pretty regular along the 1.4 mile loop. The site is an old nursery with large blocks of pines and sweetgums as well as widely scattered spruce trees. The cone crop on the spruces looks good, and had 8 different Red-br.Nuthatches on the trees today. Along with the Nuthatches, I also had

Great Egret - in a pond along the east side of Richardson Rd
N.Harrier - a female hunting near that same wetland
Nighthawk - a rather late individual winging south over the pine grove
Flickers - 6-8 around the loop trail
WoodPewees - at least 2 at different parts of the loop
Tree Swallows - 2 winging south over the open fields of the loop.
Swainson's Thrush - 1 in the pine woodlot
Gray Catbirds - rare elsewhere, I still found 10 around the trail here
Cedar Waxwings - a small flock flycatching near the park entrance
Warblers - 9 species: Tennessee (6), Magnolias (4), Black-thr.Blue (1 male), Black-thr.Green, Yellow-rumped, Pine (singing in pine woodlot!), Black&White, ComYellowthroat (10), Wilson's
Indigo Buntings - 1-2 in overgrown fields around loop
Sparrows - along with lots of Song Sparrows, also found 1 Swamp, 1 Lincoln's, & 1 White-throated
Blackbirds - not much, but did have 2 Redwings at different points along the trail
Finches - nothing unusual yet, but still plenty of Goldfinches here.
