I'm new to this list and to OH having recently moved from Tucson, AZ. I started birding in NJ so, while I'm rusty on my E birds, it is great to see them again.

I don't have a feel yet for what is rare in OH, and specifically, south-central OH (Lancaster area), but I was thrilled to be face to face with a very cooperative male Hooded Warbler Sept. 2. He even sang a little. My first sighting was on the Valley View Trail where I heard him singing, then about a half-hr later, either I saw another or the same bird off the Prairie Warbler trail.

A good photo was obtained. If there is a list one sends photos to that is tied to this list, pls let me know off-list. In AZ, rarity photos were sent to the AZ Ornithol List but I don't know if the OH List has something similar for photos.

If there are any avid birders in the Lancaster or nearby surrounds, I would be interested in meeting up or at least hearing about good places to bird. Again, pls contact me off-list.

Thanks!

Peggy Wang
