Hello everyone,

After a birder friend contacted me (Thanks Russowl!) and said that there was quite a flock at Bresler Reservoir (west of Lima, Allen County), I headed out there about 11am this morning. There was indeed a good variety of birds. The most unusual was two RED-NECKED PHALAROPES. The dark/black eye/auricular patch thatt contrasted with the rest of the head could be seen at quite a distance, but a scope was required. I also noted spots on the back. The birds were on the west side of the 'island' at Bresler. I viewed it from the dike to the south and was about 2-300 yards away, but was viewing with a good scope. The Kaufman book does not show this species passing through the area - are they unusual to the area? Thanks for any info! (But I was glad to see other red-necked phalaropes being seen today!)

Other birds seen:
Caspian Tern
Black Tern
Common Tern
Mallard
Gadwall
Pied-billed Grebe
Ring-billed Gull
Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs
Semipalmated Plover
Killdeer
Peeps
Barn Swallow
Spotted Sandpiper (on the rocky dike)

Good birding!
