While checking swifts roosts in Bexley (a close, eastern suburb of Columbus), I stumbled into a huge roost at an atypical site. I started at the Bexley Drexel Theater, a traditional roost, which held some 200 swifts tonight. Then I drove over to St Catharine's School on Fair Ave beyond the east edge of Bexley, where I was startled by the large cloud of swifts milling around their chimney. I initially estimated 1500 birds, but counting them as they went into the chimney I tallied over 2500 birds. It's easily the biggest roost swarm I've seen in the past several years. Interestingly enough, my last 2000+ bird roost was also in Bexley, at Capital University several years ago, also after a cold front.

Since this seems to have been a big swift movement night, can someone post what was found on the Swift Night Out watch at Galena?
