I stopped here this afternoon for an hour. The Sandhill Crane trio continues to grace the east end of Ellis Pond (best seen from along Wright Rd west of the parking lot). These must be the most dependable Cranes in central Ohio right now. Last Week's rains have kept the water levels in Ellis Pond and Teal Pond stable, but there wasn't too much waterbird activity. Ellis had better shorebird variety, with 25 Kildeer, 3 Pectoral Sandpipers, 6 Semipalm Spr, 1 Least Spr, and 1 Stilt Spr.. Teal Pond only had 45 Kildeer, but did still host 5 Green-winged teal, 2 Wood Ducks, and a Pied-billed Grebe. Land birds were minimal in both spots, but Teal Pond had a flock of 20 Rough-winged Swallows. Also, Indigo Buntings are on the move, with 3-4 around Ellis, and 2 near Teal Pond.
