There were a fair number of migrants along the lakeshore this pleasant fall morning.

At Lakeview Park in Lorain, a first-yr Franklin's Gull was again present first thing in the morning (possibly the same bird from last week).

On to Huron, where another Franklin's was on the flats, but this bird was an adult.  Most of the Franklin's we encounter in Ohio are young birds, and this was one of only a handful of adults I've seen locally.  Six Lesser Black-backeds were also on the flats - this species has moved in in prolific numbers over the past couple weeks.

At Lorain, a LeConte's Sparrow "cooperated" with me as much as can be expected from this species.  I marked the bird's location within the impoundment with a large Y-shaped stick for those interested in searching this afternoon.  The bird was on the higher-level ground just north of the smartweed patch where most of this fall's Nelson's have been found (more precise directions in previous postings).  Other Lorain highlights included: Black-crowned Night-Heron (2), L. Yellowlegs, Northern Harrier (subadult male), a late Barn Swallow, and Orange-crowned Warbler.

Good birding -
Gabe Leidy
