I also stopped at Conneaut today and had a few additions to Craig`s report
I found a Green Heron at the lagoon across from the observation platform where the night herons hang out
also had 4 Pied-billed Grebes,26 Coots and 2 Bald Eagles

Ryan Golterman and I had some good birds today in NE Ohio. On the way up to Conneaut we saw a bald eagle over Rte. 11 in Ashtabula Co, south of Rte. 307. At Conneaut from 10:00 AM to lunchtime we tallied: 6 Am. wigeon, 15 green-winged teal, pied-billed grebe, double-crested cormorant, turkey vultures, 2 semipalmated plovers, 2 Am. avocets, greater yellowlegs, a western sandpiper, 2 dunlin, 150 Bonaparte's gulls, and 5 pine siskins. We searched through the gulls multiple times but couldn't find any rare ones. It was very cold and windy!! During the lunch hour we birded at Lake Shore Park in Ashtabula. There wasn't much there but we did see 3 lesser scaup, 150 double-crested cormorants, and 75 Am. coots. From there we went to Mosquito L. in Trumbull Co. We only spent about an hour there and didn't do a real thorough search of the whole area; our main focus was the small cemetary (sorry I don't know the name) at the southeast end of the
lake. Found there were red-breasted nuthatch, yellow-rumped warbler, chipping sparrow, dark-eyed juncos, and 50 pine siskins. The siskins put on a great show. We checked the State Park area and the Rte. 88 causeway after that, and added these birds: mute swans, n. shovelers, green-winged teal, ring-necked duck, common mergansers, ruddy ducks, 9 pied-billed grebes, 10 great blue herons, turkey vultures, 4 bald eagles, Cooper's hawk, red-shouldered hawk, Am. coots, and Bonaparte's gulls.
