Hi all,

Sherrie Duris and I had an excellent day birding NW Ohio this afternoon. Our first stop was the previously reported HARRIS'S SPARROW in Bowling Green (Wood Co.), which was hanging out with a flock of ~200 House Sparrows. A cooperative, stunning adult! Next we headed north to Cullen Park (Lucas Co.) along the Maumee River where Mark Faust (fide Mark & Sherry Plessner) had a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE yesterday. To our surprise, it was hanging right along the shore under the boardwalk. It didn't seem to mind our presence less than 8 feet away! The water level was incredibly low with the entire area nearly all mudflats. A lone Ruddy Duck was also present. Heading east we did a quick stop at Bayshore Fishing Access picking out an early LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and our final stop of the day was Maumee Bay State Park where we enjoyed great views of the continuing MARBLED GODWIT on the inland beach. Nothing beats a great day of birding in NW Ohio...

Tomorrow I'm heading to Metzger for LeConte's/Nelson's as it's the last chance on getting in there before duck season starts.

See you out there!
