On the same theme, I can report that while we're usually only aware of a
couple of these lovely sparrows every year under our feeders, and always
only one or two at a time, this week we had four in the back yard of our
Cleveland Heights house.

We've also noticed a terrific mast crop--acorns from a variety of oaks in
abundance on the streets and in the parks in this area--making us hopeful
that we'll have more Red-headed Woodpeckers than usual around here this
winter...

Best wishes,

Steve Cagan
Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga County
