Robert Sams reported a red phalarope at the Vanlue Sewage settling ponds on 10/14. Five birders were able to re-locate it on Wed., 10/17. It’s VERY tricky to find. Here is the eBird map. The best bet is to click on “Directions” and insert the address from which you will be traveling.

Once you get there, it will be hit or miss to see it. The impoundments consist of 3 settling ponds, and are fenced and gated. Yesterday, the bird was in the middle pond, and the only way to view it was through the fence at the south end. I had to climb up the fence and hang on to get a look, not very satisfying. I recommend taking a ladder if you are not tall. See details at:
