This afternoon at about 1:30 I had a first winter surf scoter (life bird 
for me) at Alum Creek Dam.  If you park in the blelow dam area and walk up 
the steps, turn left and go to just beyond the second hewn stone bench.  
It was haning out close to the shore when I saw it.  Also, keep a lookout 
for snow buntings in the rocks on the north facing side of the dam.
