The 16th November Kelleys Island survey was conducted November 16. Tom
Bartlett, Paula Bartlett, and Pat Hayes participated. Weather was
beautiful for a November count. 68 species were observed which is well
above the 16 year average of 55 species. White-winged Crossbill was the
only new species added to the November list which is now at 109 species. Great
Black-backed Gull and Swamp Sparrow were the only two regulars for November
which were missed. 6495 individuals were observed during the count which
is well below the 16 year average of 10867. The large flocks of
Red-breasted Mergansers were notably absent and Double-crested Cormorants
have left the area.
