The Columbus Audubon trip here this morning was a day late for unusual shorebirds. We checked Ellis Pond and Teal Pond, with no success, and even stopped at nearby Winchester Lake. Water levels continue as ridiculously low, with only Teal Pond and Ellis Pond having some water at all. We did have some waterfowl, including Pied-billed Grebe, Mallards, Black Ducks, Gadwall, Green-winged Teal, and 1 Hooded Merganser. No sign of the Sandhill cranes either, despite checking many of the surrounding fields. Raptors were restricted to Red-tailed Hawks and Kestrels, but they were common. Landbirds had little that was unusual other than a few Redwings and small flocks of Tree Sparrows.
