Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, OH continues to be a hotspot for winter finches. Robert Hershberger & I birded there this afternoon with good results. We had flocks of crossbills of both species (red & white-winged nearly 20 of each), 20 common redpolls, and over 80 pine siskins. Most of the activity was near the closed bridge. Siskins were on one side (section 13) and all the other species were on the opposite side in sections 40 & 39.

We had a northern shrike cross St Rt 2 just east of Camp Perry. At BSBO feeders we saw the rufous hummingbird and a fox sparrow but missed the Eastern phoebe.

We met Sherrie Duris at Maumee Bay St Pk and looked through a lot of tangles for owls without too much success. Robert's sharp ears picked up the sound of redpolls flying over and we had a calling Eastern screech-owl.

Sherrie went with us to Bayshore where we found an adult lesser black-backed gull and a great egret along with 1500+ Bonaparte's gulls.

Robert & I finished our day owling at Secrest Arboretum. We only turned up a hooting great horned owl.
