I just had a large (50-100) flock of small finches
(goldfinch/siskin/redpoll size) circling around the Jenning's hall area
chasing after a cooper's hawk that landed on Aranoff. I saw them from my
office, and quickly opened my window in time to hear a few seconds of calls
that sounded closer to redpoll calls and goldfinch calls, however these
were distant and not heard well enough to trust that ID. Flight style was
also reminiscent of redpoll flocks I've seen in NY, but again, I'm hesitant
to pin a species ID on these birds.

The birds flew off towards the oval. Hopefully they stick around campus
and someone else notices them.

Good birding,
