I had a chance to check a couple of Akron area lakes today.  At Summit L. I had 3 n. shovelers, ring-necked ducks, 2 bufflehead, 12 hooded mergansers, ruddy ducks, 2 pied-billed grebes, 7 double-crested cormorants, and 70 Am. coots.  At Springfield L. were 8 lesser scaup, 20 buffleheads, 25 ruddy ducks, common loon, 4 pied-billed grebes, 3 horned grebes, great blue heron, red-tailed hawk, Am. coots, ring-billed gulls, herring gull, Am. robin, and red-winged blackbirds.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
