Sorry for the double posting about these crossbills - I didn't think that the post from this morning, sent from my phone in the field, went through, but I just saw that it did.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] White-winged Crossbills
 
Nine White-winged Crossbills, calling constantly, flew over my head about 10:30 this morning at Mudhen Marsh, which is on the west side of Hoover Reservoir in Delaware County. They were headed due south.

It might pay to check cemeteries and other sites with lots of conifers, especially hemlock, in the coming days. Mohican State Forest, the Hocking Hills, and other regions with hemlock gorges might produce crossbills, too.
