Hi all,

John Herman called me about 1.5 hours ago stating there was a probable 1st
cycle Iceland Gull in mid-reservoir out from the Sail Club towards the east
end of it, just off St.Rt. 97. I joined JH shortly thereafter
and soon found the bird floating in the water (mostly asleep) amongst the
several hundred Herring/Ring-billed/Bonaparte's hordes. Two Lesser
Black-backs were also found by John

Although I didn't see the Iceland flying, JH did. It is a generally
all-over dirty white bird with a somewhat dirty face but no black on wings.
It had a definitely all dark - near black bill. Size-wise, it was
intermediate between the Ring-billed and Herring gulls and probably slightly
closer to a Herring.

If anyone is interested in chasing this bird, please note: The hordes of
gulls almost in toto leave the reservoir fairly early in the morning. They
then return (presumably after feeding at landfills) in late afternoon,
usually about 2 hours before sunset - depending upon cloud cover and other
weather conditions - that is circa 4 pm. Also - scopes are necessary as
these birds are usually several hundred yards out in mid-reservoir.

Don't fail to vote tomorrow if you haven't all ready.
