Between 5:30PM and 5:45PM this evening, my wife Denise, myself, and Claudia Orr, had wonderful views of the two Eared Grebes, previously reported by Dave Hochadel. The location is at the northwest corner of Mosquito Lake. Go north from the SR88 Causeway to Mahan-Denman Road, go right and follow it to the waters edge. The Eared Grebes were basically straight out hanging with some Buffleheads and Ruddy Ducks. This location is about ten miles north of the Western Grebe site. Hoagland Blackstub Road takes you north to Mahan-Denman Road. Another bird of interest at the Eared Grebe site, was a late Osprey. It looks like a remarkable sightings weekend is coming up. Eared Grebe is Denise and my 273nd bird species for Ohio in 2012.
