I dodged rain squalls early this morning to visit the Confluence area at 3-Creeks MetroPark, then made a rainy driving arc down through the Alum Drive and Hamilton Township Quarries before finishing up at the Haul Rd and Hart Rd quarries. Landbirds after 9:00 were largely a wash-out, though there were a Red-br.Nuthatch and Pine Siskin visiting the feeders at the Confluence area. Waterfowl numbers were low, but diversity was OK, including
Horned Grebe - 1 at the Alum Drive quarry
Pied-billed Grebes - 2 were at Hart Rd quarry
Mute Swans - 4 were still at Haul Rd and another 2 were at Hart Rd quarry
Black Ducks - a few were at the St. 317 quarry, and a few more were at Haul Rd
American Wigeon - 5 were at the St. 317 Quarry at the south end of Parsons Ave
Ring-necked Ducks - a small flock of 7 were at Hart Rd quarry
Bufflehead - 2 were at Haul Rd quarry
Ruddy Duck - a pair was at Haul Rd
American Coot - 2 were at Hart Rd quarry
Ring-billed Gulls - a few were at most of the quarries, but numbers were low. Most must have been at the landfill or up at the reservoirs north of town.
