There was a fantastic movement of red-breasted mergansers this morning.
After struggling to see any on the pelagic trip in Cleveland yesterday,
there were huge flocks today. I ended up counting over 42,000. Largest
flocks were 16,000 and 9,000. The only ducks I saw within the merganser
flocks different were 3 surf scoters. I also had a single pomarine jaeger.
It was heading to the west around 8:00 this morning. It is the first jaeger
I have seen here since October.
