I took advantage of the well-cleared roads to journey downtown this morning, and checked on both Scioto Audubon and the Greenlawn cemetery. Deep snow and few places to park at either location. The bay at Scioto was partially frozen, but there was enough open water above the dam to host some birds. Haul Rd and Hart Rd quarries were also largely ice-free, though only the latter had interesting waterfowl. The cemetery was barely plowed, with only the major roads open. Notables included:

Ring-necked Gulls - 70+ were in Hart Rd quarry
Hooded Mergansers - 70 had accumulated in the bay above Greenlawn dam, while another 40 were at Hart Rd quarry
Pied-billed Grebes - 3 at Scioto, another 1 at Haul Rd quarries
Bald Eagle - 1 adult was up in a cottonwood by the bay at Scioto
Merlin - 1 was perched up on a fir north of the cemetery chapel at Greenlawn
Sapsuckers - at least 2 were in the cemetery
Red-br.Nuthatch - 1 was calling from the firs NW of the Greenlawn cemetery chapel
White-throated Sparrows - 30-40 were trying to figure out how to forage in the deep snow along the bikepath at Scioto
Pine Siskin - at least 1 was calling around the Pit feeders, which were getting low on seeds.
