I traveled out to Big Darby Creek (SW of Columbus) to see how the snows have affected birds there. I started at the Indian Ridge area of Battelle-Darby MetroPark, and worked north, through Cedar Ridge, the wetlands areas, the US40 bridge woods, Sycamore Plans, and Darby Bend Lakes (the latter two in Prairie Oaks MetroPark). Snow was from 4-6 inches, but most of the water was open. Aside from woodpeckers and forest flock birds, pickings were fairly slim. The wetlands were quite bird-less, except for a few hawks & Horned Larks. Notables included:

CanadaGeese - 160+ on Darby Bend Lakes, but no unusual species associating with them
Cooper's Hawk - only 1, a huge female stalking feeders at Darby Bend Lakes
AmerKestrels - 2 were along Darby Creek Drive, around the wetlands area
Sapsucker - 1 was feeding along the Terrace Trail at Indian Ridge
Pileated Woodpeckers - calling birds were at both the Terrace Trail and Cedar Ridge
Horned Larks - a few were flyovers at the wetlands and at Darby Bend Lakes
Brown Creepers - small #s everywhere, except for Sycamore Plains, which had 4-5
Carolina Wrens - startlingly common, with 2-3 birds at every stop. Surprising, since this is far from suburban areas.
Yellow-rumped Warbler - 1 was in the riparian forest at Cedar Ridge; another was at Sycamore Plains
Tree Sparrows - small #s everywhere, with the high of 8 at the US40 bridge woods
White-throated Sparrows - small flocks at several spots; again, the US40 bridge woods led with 12.
