Greetings -
The Varied Thrush continues to be seen as of Sunday, December 9th at multiple times and frequented locations throughout the day. See http://northnw.wordpress.com for address and details and photos.
Please note. Because of the weekend, in particular, far greater numbers of birders were present throughout the mornings. Many were unsuccessful. This was due in massive part to the larger number of folks present at the bird's frequented favored locations. While many birders have reported the bird as being "approachable" this is absolutely not the status quo. On the contrary, the bird has been pushed farther and farther away from viewing based on the sheer presence of larger numbers of folks visiting the area.
**This is a very special opportunity and at any point, visitation CAN and WILL IMMEDIATELY be taken away and birders would be immediately unwelcome and local security and police alerted in interest of the residents. Consider this a clear and present warning.**
While birders have been KINDLY ALLOWED PERMISSION TO ACCESS THIS PRIVATE CONDOMINIUM, birders must be strongly cautioned to maintain respect of PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Please stick to the very edge of the tennis court and the ROADSIDES and SIDEWALKS.
Many, many birders do not seem to comprehend that walking through backyards of the frequented areas by the thrush is an act that will not only push the bird farther and farther away for longer periods of time (many, many folks were unsuccessful at seeing this bird because of the ill actions of others), but also CONFLICT with the interests of the residents.
Permission to access the condominium PRIVATE AREAS is a godsend, not a free-for-all.
DO NOT PLAY ANY songs/calls. Stay on the roadways and sidewalks and be PATIENT.
This is a very special opportunity and at any point, visitation CAN and WILL IMMEDIATELY be taken away and birders would be immediately unwelcome and local security and police alerted in interest of the residents. (Notice this is repeated yet again).
Please respect this fantastic opportunity to see a stunning bird. There have been scores of positive experiences with the residents but the air of the situation based on certain and isolated Saturday and Sunday experiences is leaving an air of unrest.
Please act in accordance to common sense and respect.
best-jb
