At 11:10AM, Ryan Golterman called to report that he presently had excellent views of a Western Grebe from The Berlin Lake Trail Bridge. He was looking east off of the bridge. This is the area between the SR224 Causeway and the old railroad bridge (present Berlin Lake Trail Bridge). He also reports that there are 2 Dunlin standing in shallow water on a sandbar, also to the east of the bridge. The only other waterfowl present are some Buffleheads. The Berlin Lake Trail is accessed from SR224, east of the town of Deerfield, and west of the SR224 Causeway over the lake. A developed trailhead parking lot is located on the south side of the road. It is about a one mile one way walk to the trail bridge over the lake. There is also a trailhead on the south end of the trail, off of SR14 west of the town of North Benton.
