Chuck Slusarczyk Jr photographed (brilliantly) an immature Parasitic Jaeger at Wendy Park today. There seems to be some confusion between a previously seen immature (darker in coloration amongst many other plumage and giss details) Pomarine Jaeger frequenting Wendy Park/Edgewater of recent and this second bird, which is clearly a light Parasitic with single white under primary flash, pointed central tail feathers, smaller build, smaller bill, amongst other characteristics. The immature Pomarine that has been frequenting Wendy is a darker bird overall, more chocolate brown below in comparison. Upwards of two individual jaegers have been seen offshore this spot within the past week (Mike Egar). It takes some sorting, but it appears that clearly both species/birds are making repeated visits to Wendy Park/Edgewater. Size, build, bill size, extent of primary flash, overall color and behavior/flight style must be noted. Immature jaeger ID can be tricky but there are definitely two (more?) immatures visiting the area with a clear dark immature Pomarine and a lighter inmmy Parasitic, now. Bizarrely enough, the Parasitic photographed by Chuck today looks nearly identical to an immature Parasitic that had been frequenting Headlands of recent (not seen in a few days).
