I checked out Blacklick Woods for the first time-- lovely in the snow that clung to all the trees into early afternoon. Definitely a great photography day. 

I did not see the Ovenbird at the Nature Ctr feeders that had been mentioned in previous posts but I came away with a respectable New Year's Day list. The best for me was a perched Barred Owl since I haven't seen one for awhile having lived in AZ for the past several years. Another birder told me they've seen as many as 4 recently. I also had an adult Bald Eagle shortly before the turnoff to the park and on Rt 33 both up and on the way back, Rough-legged Hawk. Dozens of E Bluebirds in the area--stunning against the snow.

Most of the action was at the feeders of course but there was fair amt of bird activity on the snow-covered paths as well.

Nothing unusual but a Carolina Wren was enjoying the suet. Sparrows incl White-thrtd and Tree. I heard but did not see a Red-breasted Nuthatch. On the trails, I had a couple E Towhees and a Hairy WP. Amazing how extraordinary ordinary birds look surrounded by fresh snow.
