Hello all. Just wanted to mention we are seeing quite an outbreak of house
finch conjunctivitis here at our home in Morrow County. We took one bird
to OWC last week only to come how to 3 or 4 more sick house finches, plus 1
or 2 sick goldfinches. We recently had a red-bellied woodpecker with a
very similar looking eye problem (though this disease was not confirmed
since I never caught the bird) so the feeders are sterilized and down until
a later time after the birds are dispersed. We do maintain a clean feeding
area, but obviously the disease still spread with the congregating birds.
