Hi all,
It took 4 previous failed attempts, but I was finally able to get good looks at the hoary redpoll at Holden. The bird came to the "buckeye bud" feeders twice between 8:45 and 9:15 this morning. It didn't stay very long either time. Also present were about 40 common redpolls and several pine siskins. Be careful, as some of the commons were rather on the "light" side, but did not display the distinctive characteristics of a hoary. Also of note, it is freaking freezing!!
Good birding,
Steve Landes
