Well, its always fun to report (and see reports of) eagles in the Columbus
metro area... Saw an adult in a tree on Sunday 27th, around 5:15 pm, east
side of Olentangy River between Henderson Road and North Broadway.
Plus, WW Crossbills are gonna kill me. I went to Greenlawn Cemetery three
times last week trying to catch them, including birding the entire
cemetery on Saturday.... nada, zilch. Did the same thing the previous
Saturday... And, just like last week, people report seeing them on Sunday. So on
each of the past 2 Sundays they've stopped in.... Oh well, guess I'll have
to try Sunday this week, thought they'll probably come on Saturday this
week! (starting to become obsessed with them!) Didn't see the Merlin either.
Just a small mixed swarm of the usual suspects at the feeders (plus a male
YB Sapsucker), and a pair of Red Tails one of which that had just nailed
a gray squirrel.
