I journeyed between these 2 south Columbus parks this morning, checking ponds & feeders. All the ponds I checked were frozen, and only the moving water of the creeks was open. I stopped at the Confluence area and Borrow Pits area of 3-Creeks and the Wood Duck and Ellis Pond areas of Pick Ponds, as well as nearby Portman Park. Most places had 5-6 inches of snow still on the ground, so feeders were the only place to find large #s of birds. Highlights included:

Sharp-shinned Hawk - an adult male briefly terrorized the Borrow Pits feeder at 3-Creeks
Pileated Woodpecker - 1 was flying around the Confluence area of 3-Creeks
Red-br.Nuthatch - at least 1 was frequenting the feeder just north of the footbridge over Big Walnut Creek at 3-Creeks
BrownCreepers - saw 5-6 scattered around several areas of 3-Creeks
Horned Larks - none at 3-Creeks, but 3-4 were calling around Pick Ponds
Mockingbird - 1 was at the Wood Duck picnic area feeder at Pick Ponds
Tree Sparrows - most common bird in most places, with small flocks around most of the feeders
Harris' Sparrow - this winter rarity continues to frequent the feeder at Pick Ponds Wood Duck picnic area. Perhaps 'frequent' is too strong a word, since the bird seems to show up once every half hour or so.
White-crowned Sparrows - 4-5 were hanging around the Wood Duck area feeder along with the Harris'
Fox Sparrow - a reddish Eastern form was hanging around the Borrow Pits feeder along the bikepath at 3-Creeks
Pine Siskin - heard 1 around the Turtle Pond feeder at the Confluence area of 3-Creeks
