I did a quick run-through of most of the accesses along the Scioto River in Dublin, except for Kiwanis. I started at Kozcuiscko Park and worked north to the O'Shaughnessy dam & Frink Park and Traphagen Preserve, then came back along the west shore (Amberleigh Park, Donegal Cliffs, Coventry Woods). The river was open most of this stretch, however, above the dam O'Shaughnessy Reservoir was almost totally frozen. Waterfowl were all along the river, but they were almost entirely Canada Geese & Mallards; only a few Black Ducks were with the horde below the dam. Most landbirds were clustered along the river as well, probably for the access to water. Most unusual was a calling Red-shouldered hawk at Traphagen, but I also had Brown Creepers at several spots, and E.Bluebirds at both Frink and Donegal Cliffs. No unusual finches, despite being around spruce tree plantings almost the entire morning.
