I'm 4 for 4. This is the most reliable Northern Shrike I've ever encountered. 4 tries and its been there each time. Its on the stretch of old Leonardsburg Rd that runs through the east side of Delaware Reservoir in the Del. W.A. and the bird is often around the corner where it connects with Panhandle Rd. It was not very cooperative for photos though, actively hunting and diving low everywhichway but didn't seem to get anything that I saw, though it did disappear for a few minutes so who knows? There were 7 Northern Harriers there but even though I waited til dark, there were NO Short-eared Owls. The road in is a bit icy/snowy but still passable. This part of the lake is low and frozen today, but I also saw a few waterfowl and a Great Blue Heron fly over, so maybe something is still open.
Good Birding
