We visited Funk Bottoms Wildlife Area in Wayne County late this afternoon
and stayed until after sunset, hoping to find Short-eared Owls flying. As
the sun set we did see 4 Northern Harriers from the observation tower -- two
females and two males. But, alas, no Owls were out and about this evening.

We also found 2 Lapland Longspurs on Wilderness Road associated with a small
flock of Horned Larks. They were in the first farm field east of Funk Road.
We saw them on the south side of Wilderness Road, but they later flew into
the field on the north side of the road.
