I stopped at 3-Creeks Park this morning, biking around the path at Confluence and nearby areas. Then I drove in a long arc to check quarries along Big Walnut Creek and the Scioto River, finishing at the Haul Rd quarries. The only ones with any significant open water were at Haul Rd and along Alum Creek Drive, and that's where the most waterfowl were found. The old quarry at the south end of Parsons Rd, even though frozen, still attracted geese and gulls; this will be a good spot to check as Spring progresses. Notables included:

Geese - all Canadas, with the largest flock some 200 at the quarry at the south end of Parsons Ave
Mute Swans - 7 were swimming around at the Haul Rd quarry
dabbling ducks - nothing but Mallards, but they were in just about any open water, both in the creeks and the quarries
Ring-neck Duck - 1 was at Alum Creek Drive quarry
Redheads - a flock of 80 was in a small lead at the Haul rd quarries
Ruddy Ducks - 7 were at the Alum Creek Dr. quarry
other waterfowl - Coots and 1 Pied-billed grebe were holed up at the Alum Creek Drive Quarry
Gulls - no great #s, but flocks of 60 and 80 were at the Parsons Rd and Haul Rd Quarries, respectively.
Bald Eagle - no adults apparent around Haul Rd, but there was a juvenile there
Kestrel - 1 was sitting on a road wire by the Alum Creek Drive Quarry; otherwise they were very scarce.
Pileated Woodpeckers - 1 was along the Confluence Trail in 3-Creeks, while another was in the woods next to the quarry at the S end of Parsons Rd
Red-br.Nuthatch - 1 continues to visit a feeder along the 3-Creeks bikepath north of the bridge over Big Walnut Creek
Brown Creepers - singles were at several spots in 3-Creeks Park
