Brief stop today at Winton Woods (in the Hamilton County Park District) to check on the heron colony there. Last year I counted 18 nests in the colony. Today, only had time to stop with hazard lights on and use binocs from the car. Noted at least 5 Great Blue Herons tending to their nests. Last year one of the nests was occupied by a pair of Black-crowned Night-Herons, but I did not have time today to set up the scope. I'll check again in the near future and report what I find.
