A short time ago at 10AM this morning, Thursday; there was a White Phase Snow Goose with a large gathering of Canada Geese, about three miles south of the town of Newport, in southeastern Washington County. The location is on the Ohio River side of SR7 between Ergon Trucking and Mud Lane, in the open grassy area. Some of the other interesting birds here and at nearby Newell's Run backwater area were: American Black Ducks, Redheads, Lesser Scaups, Hooded Mergansers, Pied-billed Grebes, Double-crested Cormorants, Great Blue Herons, and American Coots.
