The lake out past the ice from the Scheeff East Point Preserve on South Bass
Island contained the following waterfowl yesterday. A bald eagle flew over
the waterfowl at one point. A few snow buntings passed overhead.

Off reef to the east
68 Tundra Swans
50 Mallards
50 Lesser Scaup
25 Ring-necked Ducks
60 Redheads
49 Common Goldeneye
2 Great Black-backed Gull
20 Herring Gull

Just North of Buckeye Island
21 Tundra Swans
600 Common Goldeneye
20 Bufflehead
20 Ring-necked Ducks
10 Mallards

A small opening in the ice Squaw Harbor of Put-in-Bay had about 25 redheads
and 10 lesser scaups. There were two double-crested cormorants on the bar
between Gibraltar and Oak Point. A large group of both herring and ring-
billed gulls were scattered over the ice in the Bay.
