Howdy,

I finally got around to going through my photos from Sunday at Eastwood
Park's Hydrobowl and remembered photographing a duck that was hanging fairly
closely by two Mallards, but was definitely not a Mallard, or at least not
one I'm accustomed to seeing. The screaming orange legs were what caught my
eye from a distance and once it came in a lot closer, I was able to get
several photographs of it. I'm in the process of going through the complete
set to see if there are any better than what I posted to my photobucket
album "unknown," but for now, the link has 5 photographs:

(let me know if you can't connect to the photo gallery - photobucket seems
to be getting frisky with its layout.)

An overall description - the bill looks mallardish, the head seems
mallardish but more of a reddish-green and full down the neck with no ring.
The eyes and eye-rings seem black. The overall feather coloration is light
- mostly white and beige - with a dark rump and white tail. Again, the
most striking thing and what grabbed my attention - the orange legs.and not
a little orange, either.

At any rate, after consulting Uncle Sibley, AllAboutBirds, my Stokes guide
and iBird, I felt it time to turn it over to y'all while thinking, "why do I
seem to find the weird ones," OR "why can't I identify the oddly colored
normal?" Either, way, I humbly ask for some assistance, here.

Thanks,

Phil Ware
