Tim & I visited lakes in Mahoning and Columbiana counties this morning and found
good numbers and diversity of waterfowl everywhere we went.  Top birds of the
day definitely was the Long-tailed Duck (1 at Evans Lake and 3 at Salem
Reservoir) and Common Loon (1 at Evans Lake and 4 at Guilford Lake).

The lakes we visited were Pine and Evans Lakes in Mahoning Co. and Salem
Reservoir, Guilford Lake and Zepperneck Lake in Columbiana Co.  Zepperneck has
been totally dry for a few years so it was really good to see water in it
again.  It's not full but at least enough water to hold ducks.

Other waterfowl we saw at these lakes included Gadwall, Black Duck, Pintail, Am
Widgeon, L. Scaup, Ring-neck Duck, Redhead, Bufflehead, all 3 merganser species,
Pied and Horned Grebes.
