Hi all,

Once again, another successful Shreve Migration Sensation
has concluded. Those of you who were there yesterday will probably agree that
it was quite the success with an impressive number of birders of all age and
experience levels, great speakers and plenty of good birding.

Visiting Ontario birder Billi Krochuk and I hit up most
of the local spots around Wayne County including  Killbuck Marsh (Wright Marsh/Cemetery Rd.), Wilderness
Road, Funk Bottoms and Shreve Pond. Although nothing exceptional was recorded,
we still tallied a decent ~70 species for the morning including a couple dozen
species of waterfowl.

Cemetery Road had the typical mix of both scaup, Redhead,
Ring-necked Ducks, Hooded and Red-breasted Mergansers, Ruddy Ducks and
Green-winged Teal. Also present were Horned Grebe, two Sandhill Cranes and an
Eastern Phoebe.

Wright Marsh had a lot of the same mix of waterfowl with the addition of American Wigeon, Northern Shoveler and Northern
Pintail. Two Sandhill Cranes, a cooperative Northern Shrike and a flyover
Double-crested Cormorant were also of note.

Moving on to Funk, along 95 yielded the addition of roughly
75 Tundra Swans, 20+ Wood Ducks, Gadwall, American Black Ducks, and four
Canvasback. Once again two Sandhill Cranes were present along with three
Red-headed Woodpeckers.

Shreve Pond produced three Common Loons among the
regulars.

At the end of the day, we headed over to Wilderness Road
for the evening. A nice variety of waterfowl were present as well as a decent
number flying over at dusk. Five Snow Geese (4 white, 1 blue) were a nice
pickup as they flew over in a northerly direction. Also of note were a male and
female Northern Harrier and a single Short-eared Owl just as the light faded to
that late dusk lighting we all love so much.

Good birding,
Ethan Kistler
