All signs seem to be pointing towards spring. Finally !
Nothing "rare" or unusual, but it's the start of the spring rituals.
Back are the Mallards and Wood Ducks, along with a Great Blue Heron stalking along Heider Creek that passes thru the south section of the Kopf Family Reservation of the Lorain County Metropark.
The male Goldfinches are beginning to show their summer colors, and Brown Creepers and Phoebes arrived over the week-end. As did quite a few Kinglets (mostly Golden-crowned).
Although the Juncos are still hanging around, the White-throated sparrows(and
the few White-crowned sparrows) appear to have followed the Redpolls that had wintered here, replaced by newly arrived Song sparrows and Chipping sparrows.
The resident pair of Red-tailed Hawk don't seem to be re-using last year's nest, but a pair of Cooper's Hawks are busy nest-building in another part of the woods. A pair of Cardinals are doing the same in the bushes in our yard.
Don't ya love it ?
