Hi all --
I suppose once two nest areas were confirmed last season for fish crows in
the area, this is not such big news, but a group was heard for the first
time in my yard. I am only 2 1/2 miles N-NW from the Green-Cedar Roads
nest site. In this group were four staying close together, three of them
being quite vocal and two or three others loosely hanging nearby, coming
and going.

I'm writing to solicit thoughts on the American crow juvenile begging vs.
fish debate. I'd be happy to concede that it was really American crow
begging calls, but my brief research says it is approximately six weeks too
soon for fledglings? I see it is possible for females to beg from the nest
at this time, but no nest observed here of any crows and we have two
birders next door to each other with eyes and ears always open.

Thanks for any thoughts
Katrina Heinzen
