I went out about noon.  44 degrees and very windy.  The best bird was a
solitary sandpiper in the flooded puddle at the beginning of the trail from
the parking lot.  It was persistent and had returned by the time I came
back.  No other shorebirds except a few yellowlegs.  This is the second time
I have heard ring-necked pheasants calling along the harrier trail. Barn
swallows are in. Blue-gray gnatcatchers, ruby-crowned and golden-crowned
kinglets as well as yellow rumps were along the trail.  I heard two
yellow-throated warblers across the river from the trail near the bridges. 
The trail under the railroad bridge is flooded and needs at least 10 inch
boots to navigate.
