John Watts found several upland sandpipers calling and perched at Bolton
Field airport in Columbus this morning. As far as I know this is the
first report of them this spring, and a bit later than usual. They were,
as customary, way off in the grassy areas on the far sides of the
runways, visible from the parking lot. This is a pretty quiet spot, and
if you stay out of the way and outside the fences no one cares much, as
far as I know--unlike at certain other airports--but the views are
distant and sporadic.
