Many folks were able to see the female-type Ruff at Shreve fish pond though at least 5:45 pm. It worked the mudflats with several Pectoral Sandpipers and Greater Yellowlegs, the Ruff towering over the Pecs. I don't have the clearest final update but the shorebird flock did fly off not to return it appears. There may be other more detailed updates of it returning this evening. Photos acquired by many folks including D. Gesualdo and Sue Snyder. The bird is very whitish below with some blackish scalloping above. Brilliant find by Ben Morrison with Shari Jackson and thanks to Kent Miller for spreading word. Sex of bird undetermined but bird is exhibiting female-type plumage. Ben noted the large size of the bird, which could help indicate a male.
