On the Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland's Veery/Wood Thrush evening walk Friday at about 8:15 we had 3 Sandhill Cranes fly into the marsh to top off the night. We were also treated to a Woodcock continuing his courtship dance and flight.

A Barred Owl may have given a short yelp but we explained to the group that it is not proper to "call" owls at this time of year as they should not be disturbed and distracted from attending their fledglings. Sure while nesting they will aggressively defend territory against a would be challenger but it is better to let them devote energy to real threats. Let us not distract them until late summer.
