It is presently 11:30AM Saturday morning. Vehicular access to the sandspit is open, and we are out there. We arrived about 10AM and immediately found a Laughing Gull along the marina road in between the large square cut blocks on the left. Within a few minutes we also found a Franklin's Gull resting in the green buffer area. Lesser Scaup are in the harbor. Black-crowned Night-Herons are at their usual "platform lagoon" location. The only person to welcome us to the sandspit was Bob Krajeski. He reported also having a Laughing Gull on the sandspit. A Little Gull was present with numerous Bonaparte's Gulls. A nice variety of shorebirds are here including Ruddy Turnstone, Dunlin, Semipalmated Plover, Least Sandpiper, Greater Yellowlegs, and Spotted Sandpiper. Turkey Vultures are everywhere and no less than twelve Bald Eagles. Hopefully the 50 degree weather will keep the non-birders away. The Conneaut Harbor and Sandspit Area are located at the end of SR7 north of I-90 in Ashtabula County.
