A spectacular full breeding plumage eared grebe offered excellent nearshore views this morning at the Marysville Upground Reservoir, Union County. The grebe was along the north shore, just west of the boat ramp around the first bend. Horned grebes, lesser scaup, ruddy ducks, and red-breasted merganser also present.

Adjacent woodlots along the north shore had good numbers of warblers and vireos, a big improvement over yesterday. 11 species of warblers and three species of vireos. Warblers: yellow, yellow-rumped, common yellowthroat, yellow-throated, nashville, black& white, american redstart, black-throated green, northern parula, ovenbird, & palm. Vireos include blue-headed, warbling, & red-eyed.

Numerous eastern kingbirds along field edges on south shore.

Bill Lynch
