Upon our arrival at The Conneaut Sandspit about 9:30AM, we were greeted by two Willets resting, and calling on the sandbar looking toward the Conneaut Lighthouse. Presently the sun is out and there are pools of water, here and there around the sandspit. Bald Eagles are in full force with eighteen juveniles and two adults on the breakwalls. Some of the other birds of note are 3 Caspian Terns, 20+ Purple Martins, 50+ Bank Swallows, 30+ Bonaparte's Gulls, 2 adult Great-black Backed Gulls, 20+ Great Blue Herons, an Eastern Kingbird, and a pair of Spotted Sandpipers, just to name a few. It is presently 10:15AM Friday morning at this Ashtabula County location; our only companions are the visiting Willets, and some Amish fisherman on the lighthouse breakwall. What a beautiful day!!!

Bob and Denise Lane / Mahoning County
